Dr. Robotnik was a disaster in Survive The Disasters 2. It was removed in Version 39 to minimize copyright content in the game.
Description[]
Dr. Robotnik was a 2D mini-game type of disaster, originating from the classic game Sonic The Hedgehog. Players had to survive a series of attacks that were controlled by Dr. Robotnik himself, the main enemy.
During the round, players were teleported inside a deadly room that appeared in the middle of the map. Dr. Robotnik would appear flying on a custom machine, while players would be standing on a platform made of bricks, elevated slightly above a spike trap. Dr. Robotnik moved from left to right, randomly picking a spot, and drilling down such chosen brick. Anyone caught in that attack would be instantly killed.
As the round went on and Dr. Robotnik took down bricks, more gaps were opened on the platform, making it easy for players to step off and get killed by the spikes on the bottom of the stage. It was recommended for players to quickly react to the machine's movement, while avoiding the floor gaps.
Memo Information[]
"Dr. Robotnik traps you in a room with 8 blocks! Dr. Robotnik will move left and right choosing a completely random block to break. This will shrink room to stand on, so choose wisely where to jump, otherwise you'll fall down a pit of spikes. Touching Dr. Robotnik when he's impaling will kill you! Speed and jump gears work best against this disaster."
Trivia[]
- Dr. Robotnik was based on the Egg Stinger, the third boss of Sonic The Hedgehog.
- In Version 39, Dr Robotnik was removed along with other Sonic The Hedgehog reference disasters, such as Fire Breath and Hammer Eggman, as an attempt to minimize copyright material in-game.
- Dr. Robotnik used to be the longest 2D disaster in-game, in terms of duration, tied with Tetris at 40 seconds.
- Dr. Robotnik received an halloween-exclusive sprite during Version 1.23.
- During the April Fools 2017 event, Dr. Robotnik was replaced by a quiz mini-game during which players would have to stand on platforms with the correct answer to the question being displayed, all referring to Sonic The Hedgehog and its franchise. If players stood on the incorrect platform, it would disappear and they would die to spikes placed on the bottom of the stage. The round duration was increased to 107 seconds during this event.
- During the April Fools 2018 event, Dr. Robotnik was once again replaced by its quiz mini-game from the previous April Fools event, with updated questions and a longer duration of 127 seconds. The answer platforms were also updated to minimize chances of players avoiding the trap on the floor, unintended mechanic which was abused in the April Fools 2017 event.
